Marines prepare a M777A2 155 mm howitzer for a convoy to the North Fuji Maneuver Area in preparation to conduct live-fire training as part of Artillery Relocation Training Program 12-3 here Nov. 8. The Marines will conduct 10 days of live-fire training with the howitzers during ARTP 12-3. The Marines and sailors involved with ARTP 12-3 are with Mike Battery, 3rd Battalion, 12th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force. This exercise is part of regularly-scheduled, routine training that promotes regional stability and security by allowing units stationed on Okinawa to improve their ability to support III MEF's role in the defense of Japan under the Treaty of Mutual Cooperation and Security.
