Maj. Gen. Giselle Wilz, director of staff, National Guard Bureau (NGB), speaks with Bonnie Carroll, president and founder of the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), along with other members of the program and NGB staff, about the importance of the TAPS organization and its mission during an event held May 24, 2023, at the Herbert R Temple Jr. Army National Guard Readiness Center (TARC) in Arlington, Virginia. TAPS is one of the partnering programs of the NGB J1-Warrior Resilience and Fitness Division (J1-W), which aims to connect Army National Guard (ARNG) and Air National Guard (ANG) service members and families with various support programs. TAPS’ mission is to provide comfort, care and resources to all those grieving the death of a military loved one. In 2018, TAPS established subsidiary TAPS Ukraine, a Ukrainian Charity Fund, in the U.S. to help meet the emotional and humanitarian needs of Ukrainians who have suffered from Russian aggression. “Your stories are our stories, our stories are your stories. We are so grateful to TAPS and the special care it provides to our Guard Members and our families,” said Wilz. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Master Sgt. Amber Monio)
