Olena Shilova, a psychologist and deputy head of the board for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) Ukraine, a Ukrainian Charity Fund, and members of her team, speak with Maj. Gen. Giselle Wilz, director of staff, National Guard Bureau (NGB), along with other members of the program and NGB staff, about the importance of the TAPS organization and its mission during an event held May 24, 2023, at the Herbert R Temple Jr. Army National Guard Readiness Center (TARC) in Arlington, Virginia. TAPS is one of the partnering programs of the NGB J1-Warrior Resilience and Fitness Division (J1-W), which aims to connect Army National Guard (ARNG) and Air National Guard (ANG) service members and families with various support programs. TAPS’ mission is to provide comfort, care and resources to all those grieving the death of a military loved one. In 2018, TAPS established subsidiary TAPS Ukraine, a Ukrainian Charity Fund, in the U.S. to help meet the emotional and humanitarian needs of Ukrainians who have suffered from Russian aggression.
