Sailors assess and treat simulated injuries of Marines assigned to 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) during a mass casualty drill aboard amphibious transport dock USS Anchorage (LPD 23), June 1, 2023, in the Pacific Ocean. Mass casualty drills train Sailors to act as first responders while the ship’s medical department distributes manpower and resources to prioritize and treat the multiple casualties. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and amphibious transport docks Anchorage and USS John P.
