Sailors and Marines assigned to amphibious transport dock USS Anchorage’s (LPD 23) combat cargo department prepare to transport a medical training mannequin down a stairwell during a mass casualty drill, June 1, 2023, in the Pacific Ocean. Mass casualty drills train Sailors to act as first responders while the ship’s medical department distributes manpower and resources to prioritize and treat the multiple casualties. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and amphibious transport docks Anchorage and USS John P.
