Soldiers from Ghana and the U.S. Army meet with Alhaji Ahmed Yussi, the municipal chief executive of the city of Yendi, Ghana, June 3, 2023. Yussi expressed his appreciation for the medical treatment the Ghana Armed Forces and U.S. Army medical professionals provided his community during African Lion 2023. Ghana and U.S. medical personnel provided free health screenings and medical treatment to civilians from the local community at a medical civil action program. This program served as an opportunity for the partnered medical providers to build rapport and cultural awareness with the local community. African Lion is an annual training event between the U.S., Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, and Tunisia. Approximately 8,000 personnel and 18 nations will participate in African Lion 2023, U.S. Africa Command's largest annual combined, joint exercise spanning multiple countries from May 13 - June 18, 2023.
