An emergency medicine physician with the U.S. Army 352nd Civil Affairs Command, diagnoses a Ghanaian civilian near Yendi, Ghana, June 3, 2023. Ghanaian and U.S. servicemembers provided free screening and treatment to close to 1,200 civilians from the local community during a medical civil action program as part of exercise African Lion 2023 (AL23). The program served as an opportunity for the partnered medical providers to build rapport and cultural awareness with the local community. Eighteen nations and approximately 8,000 personnel will participate in AL23, U.S. Africa Command's largest annual combined, joint exercise that will take place in Ghana, Morocco, Senegal and Tunisia from May 13 – June 18, 2023.
