U.S. Army Master Sgt. Bisi Akindele, health care noncommissioned officer, 352nd Civil Affairs Command, engages with Ghana servicemembers and children during a medical civic action program in Yendi, Ghana, June 3, 2023, as part of exercise African Lion 2023 (AL23). Ghana and U.S. medical personnel provided free health screenings and medical treatments to approximately 1,200 civilians from the local community. The program served as an opportunity for the partnered medical providers to build rapport and cultural awareness with the local community. African Lion is an annual training event between the U.S., Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, and Tunisia. Eighteen nations and approximately 8,000 personnel will participate in AL23, U.S. Africa Command's largest annual combined, joint exercise that will take place in Ghana, Morocco, Senegal and Tunisia from May 13 – June 18, 2023.
