LAS VEGAS – Sgt. Leah Hanstein, a 17C, cyberspace operations noncommissioned officer (NCO), with other Soldiers from the 780th Military Intelligence Brigade (Cyber) and the Cyber Protection Brigade, supported U.S. Army Recruiting Command in engaging more than 2,000 high school students from the local area and told them about the life-changing opportunities of Army service, March 21 and 22. #BeAllYouCanBe
“To start off, few people are aware of the cyberspace, 17 series MOS (military occupational specialties), nonetheless the 780th Military Intelligence Brigade (Cyber), within the Army. Additionally, there is still a stigma out there of the military being solely a physical fighting force, however, we are never at peacetime in the cyber world. I believe there are people out there with the capability to be successful in the cyber branch of the Army but do not know enough about cyber or the military to count this pathway as an option for them. This is why I enjoy connecting with high school and college students and telling them a little about what we do and to break down any barriers, stigmas, or preconceived notions the public may have with the military. In doing so, I hope to make an impact on their lives—either by opening their eyes up to new possibilities, or even influencing them enough to make the decision to pursue Army Cyber. I also enjoy talking with others and seeing different points of view as everyone comes from different walks of life. This is why I volunteer to support these events!” Sgt. Leah Hanstein, U.S. Army
