ROCKFORD, Ill. -- Soldiers from the Cyber Protection Brigade (Hunters) and the 780th Military Intelligence Brigade (Cyber) supported Army Recruiters from the Loves Park Recruiting Company, U.S. Army Recruiting Command, April 24 through 28, to increase awareness in Northern Illinois area schools about the diversity of career fields within the Army. #BeAllYouCanBe

“I volunteered to attend the Loves Park, Illinois, U.S. Army Recruiting Command event because it offered the opportunity to provide students with more knowledge on lesser-known jobs within the Army, I am a 35P, Russian linguist, and because I was able to understand some reasons why the Army is struggling to meet its recruiting targets. As the Brigade Command Language Program Manager (CLPM), I have attended multiple conferences and workshops and a topic that always comes up is the poor 35P recruiting numbers, which is a by-product of low recruiting numbers (MOS irrelevant). Having the ability to spend a week on the ground with recruiters at various schools and events allowed me to see the myriad of challenges that we as a force face regarding recruiting. In turn, I can take the knowledge gained/lessons learned and provide it to interested parties at future conferences and workshops.”

“These events are especially important because they provide a way for us to educate prospective recruits and interesting individuals on (military occupational specialties) that are lesser-known outside of the Army. Most people have a pre-conceived notion that the Army is all about infantry, kicking down doors, shooting, blowing stuff up, etc., so being able to enlighten them about the various support jobs that the Army has can help persuade someone to join who may not want to do all the stereotypical things listed above.” Staff Sgt. Richard Balestrieri, U.S. Army
