CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA (July 23, 2023) Sailors from the Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Canberra (LCS 30) march through the streets of Canberra, Australia, July 23. The crew parades through the streets of Canberra, showcasing our more than 100 years of mateship. Freedom of Entry is an honor granted to military units that bestows the right to parade through the city streets on ceremonial occasions and be present at official functions and ceremonies. In accordance with military law and tradition, this gives the unit the right to march through the streets with swords drawn, bayonets fixed, drums beating, bands playing, and ensign flying.
