This #FortRileyFriday we're back on the old Cavalry Post, centered around
Cavalry Parade Field.
Expansions of the Cavalry and Artillery School in the mid-1890s, 1903, and 1909 resulted in the construction of additional buildings including quarters for officers and non-commissioned officers, barracks, guard houses, stables, store houses, gun sheds, and other facilities.
Building 208 on Custer Avenue was built during the 1903 expansion of the Cavalry Post. Originally constructed as a barracks, building 208 is now home to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, US Army Garrison Fort Riley's Victory Reception Company where all in-processing soldiers must report when
they arrive on Fort Riley. It is very likely the first building they see the inside of when they reach post.
