U.S. Army Sgt. Shawn Brown, a Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) supply recovery noncommissioned officer, buckets out mud from a wet screening pond during a DPAA recovery operation in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), Nov. 6, 2023. Wet screen operations allow for recovery members to screen through dirt for possible evidence that may lead to the identification of missing personnel. There are currently 277 recoverable missing personnel from the Vietnam War whose remains are believed to be in Lao PDR.
