A U.S. Marine Corps CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter from HMH 464 Detachment A, Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, descends after locating a simulated downed pilot during a joint personnel recovery exercise, Jan. 16 in the Grand Bara Desert. The exercise included two synchronized rescues - one on land and one at sea - and involved airmen, soldiers, sailors and Marines from Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa as well as members of the French Foreign Legion. The exercise helped enhance interoperability and underscored the importance of personnel recovery in the Horn of Africa. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Caleb Pierce)
