Lt. Gen. David G. Bellon, commander of U.S. Marine Corps Forces, South and U.S. Marine Corps Forces Reserve, waits to be presented an award by the Colombian Navy for his commitment and service to the Infantaría de Marina de Colombia (Colombian Marine Corps) following a recruit swearing in ceremony at the Base de Entrenamiento de Marina in Coveñas, Colombia, Jan 11, 2023. For the first time in Colombian history, 60 women completed the Juramento de Bandera de Infantes de Marina after they completed three months of recruit training and joined the ranks in the Colombian Naval Infantry. U.S. Marines attended the ceremony to show solidarity and support partner nations’ significant contributions to the principles of Women, Peace, and Security and to demonstrate unwavering support for the women Naval Infantry graduates.
