The Colombian Marine Corps marching band performs at the recruit swearing in ceremony at the Base de Entrenamiento de Marina in Coveñas, Colombia, Jan 11, 2023. For the first time in Colombian history, 60 women completed the Juramento de Bandera de Infantes de Marina after they completed three months of recruit training and joined the ranks in the Colombian Naval Infantry. U.S. Southern Command’s Women, Peace and Security (WPS) program recognizes the diverse roles women play as agents of change in preventing and resolving conflict, countering terrorism and violent extremism as well as building post-conflict peace and stability in the Western Hemisphere.
