Rear Adm. Rick Freedman, Navy Deputy Surgeon General and Deputy Chief, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, arrives at Aviation Survival Training Center (ASTC) Pensacola as part of an official visit, Feb. 7. Naval Survival Training Institute (NSTI), a detachment of NMOTC, is comprised of eight ASTC’s and a headquarters unit which specialize in training the pilots, aircrew, and service members who support other specialized communities in the survival skills and techniques to survive aviation emergencies. NMOTC is comprised of six nationwide detachments that offer specialized medical training in the fields of aviation, aviation survival, surface and undersea warfare, expeditionary and special operations medicine.
