240516-N-NS135-1228 (May 16, 2024) GULF OF GUINEA – A Ghana Navy rigid-hulled inflatable boat (RHIB) approaches the stern of Comandant-class patrol ship ITS Comandante Bettica during a rehearsal for a joint maritime interdiction demonstration between Obangame Express 2024 and Flintlock 2024 exercises. The Ghana Navy small boat carries a boarding team of Obangame Express 2024 instructors from the U.S. Coast Guard Tactical Law Enforcement Team (TACLET) and Royal Netherlands Marine Corps Reconnaissance Sniper Team and trainees from the Ghana Navy and Ghana Police Service.
During Exercise Obangame Express 2024, the 13th rendition of the exercise, partner and allied forces collaborate to enhance collective maritime law enforcement capabilities, bolster national and regional security in West Africa, and foster greater interoperability among U.S., African, and multinational partners. Exercise Flintlock is an African partner-led, U.S. and international enabled exercise focused on improving military interoperability of combined security forces.
