U.S. Army Gen. Randy A. George, Chief of Staff of the Army, awards a challenge coin to Cpl. John Miner, hailing from Hagerstown, Maryland, assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 10th Mountain Division (LI) , at the Owl’s Den on Fort Drum, New York, July 16, 2024. Miner was recognized for his integral part in planning and organizing multiple events supporting not only the 10th Mountain Division Band as a trumpet player with the Brass Quintet, but additionally HHBN. A military custom known as a challenge coin is presented to a recipient to recognize and honor excellence and hard work, as well as fosters a sense of unit pride, and enhances esprit de corps.
