Soldiers and Airmen with the New Hampshire Army and Air National Guard begin the 100-meter swim portion of the German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency (GAFPB) on September 6, 2024, at Capital City Sports and Fitness in Concord, N.H. The German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency or, in German, “Das Abzeichen für Leistungen im Truppendienst” is a decoration of the Bundeswehr, the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Germany, and is awarded to members of allied armed forces who successfully complete a series of physical and military skill tests. The 100-meter swim portion must be completed within four minutes while in uniform. After swimming 100 meters, participants must tread water while removing their uniforms and throw them onto the pool deck to complete this test portion. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Sgt.
