Service members and staff from the Navy and Marine Corps Force Health Protection Command (NMCFHPC) and Navy Environmental Preventive Medicine Unit Two (NEPMU-2) participated in the annual Naval Air Station (NAS) Oceana Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) event, Sept. 20, 2024, Virginia Beach, Virginia. During the event, Sharon Baumann, a risk communicator with the NMCFHPC walks students through the correct way to perform the acid based chemical reaction station. By taking a spoon full of baking soda and dropping it in vinegar, causes the solution to fizz up. The purpose of the station is to show students how acid-based substances react when expose to baking soda. (Navy photo by Desmond Martin) (Navy photo by Desmond Martin)
