Service members and staff from the Navy and Marine Corps Force Health Protection Command (NMCFHPC) and Navy Environmental Preventive Medicine Unit Two (NEPMU-2) participated in the annual Naval Air Station (NAS) Oceana Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) event, Sept. 20, 2024, Virginia Beach, Virginia. During the event a student, with the assistance of her mother, conducts the “Drops on a Penny” station. The objective of this station is to drop as many water droplets on a coin as you can without it spilling over the edge of the coin. The more drops you add to the coin, the stronger the force of gravity grows among the water molecules at the surface, which causes the water to spill over the edge of the coin.
