    PHILIPPINE SEA (Aug. 23, 2024) – Damage Controlman Third Class Damian Cromwell of Pueblo, Colorado concludes the Mobility-Aviation Certification aboard Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Benfold (DDG 65). As Crash and Salvage Hose Team leader Petty Officer Cromwell leads his team in combatting fires and rescuing personnel in the event of flight deck emergencies during helicopter operations. Petty Officer Cromwell is a graduate of Graham High School. Certification events also included day and night landing qualification, vertical replenishment, and Helicopter In-Flight Refueling (HIFR). Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron Five One, also known as "Warlords," is a United States Navy helicopter squadron stationed at Naval Air Facility Atsugi, located in Ayase City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Honshu, Japan. Benfold is forward-deployed and assigned to Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15, the Navy’s largest DESRON and the U.S. 7th Fleet’s principal surface force. (U.S. Navy photo by Fireman Yeudiel S.
