U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Tyler Lester, left, stands with Maj. Gen. Christopher S. Owens during a ceremony Feb. 15 at Ban Chan Krem, Kingdom of Thailand. Lester was recognized by Owens for his outstanding performance during the Cobra Gold 2013 field training exercise. During his visit, Owens toured the Marine base camp and spoke with Marines and sailors about the importance of multinational and bilateral training in the Asia-Pacific region. Owens is the Marine Forces commander during the exercise and commanding general of 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force, and Lester is an infantry assaultman with Company A, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, which is attached to 4th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, as part of the Marine Corps’ unit deployment program.
