Norfolk Naval Shipyard’s Temporary Services (Shop 99) Electrician Jamelias Peller attended the University of District of Columbia on a track scholarship where she also excelled in basketball for the University. She had planned to join the U.S. Marine Corps in order to support the United States interests, but she was unable to participate in the buddy program. Several years later her dream came true of serving her country by becoming an electrician at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in 2018. “When I was given the opportunity to come work here at Norfolk Naval Shipyard, I took it because I had finally got my chance to service the military," she said.
