University of Florida's "Croc Docs", biologist and graduate student, Brandon Welty Sits on the driver seat of a small airboat while University of Florida's Research and Education Center, research assistant biologist, Serio A. Balaguera-Reina, Ph.D. backs the boat into the water. The crew heads out into the night in search of alligators one the few indicator species the RECOVER team uses to determine the health of the Everglades.
Collecting field data is extremely important to RECOVER (REstoration COordination & VERification) which is made up of a multi-agency team of scientists, modelers, planners and resource specialists. The information they collect and synthesize informs the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP).
