OKINAWA, Japan (Jan. 29, 2025) Cpl. Suzette Vela, from Mission, Texas, assigned to the Marine Expeditionary Unit 31 (MEU) aboard the Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Rushmore (LSD 47) looks back at Okinawa, Japan as the ship departs White Beach Naval Facility, Jan. 29. Rushmore, part of the America Amphibious Ready Group (ARG), is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations. 7th Fleet is the U.S. Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
