Infantrymen assigned to C. Co., 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, conduct a movement-to-contact drill during Exercise Gothic Sentinel at Camp Ethan Allen Training Site, Vermont, Feb. 22, 2025. Operating in deep snow and rugged terrain, the platoon cleared a designated named area of interest, reacting to simulated intelligence reports of enemy activity. After encountering an opposition force listening post, infantrymen recovered intelligence documents leading them to a weapons cache site, where they executed a bounding maneuver to seize the objective. The exercise also served as a learning opportunity, as stopping to treat a simulated casualty inadvertently exposed the unit to enemy fire, reinforcing the importance of tactical casualty care under fire.
