OLONGAPO, PHILIPPINES (Feb. 1, 2025) Fire Controlman (Aegis) 2nd Class Jacob Sharp, from Huntsville, Alabama, assigned to the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Benfold (DDG 65), takes on a challenge to carry water in a plastic pipe from one bucket to another with children from the Project Life Subic Chapel, in Olongapo, Philippines, Feb 1. The children and Sailors had to work as a team to cover the holes in the PVC pipe to prevent water from escaping. Benfold Sailors spent the day with the youth group as part of a community relations event with Project Life Subic, which is a ministry group that aims to help in developing the quality of life in the community by offering livelihood programs. Benfold is forward deployed and assigned to Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15, the Navy’s Largest DESRON and U.S. 7th Fleet’s principal surface force.
