    USS Benfold (DDG 65) spend a day with Project Life Subic youth group

    OLONGAPO, PHILIPPINES (Feb. 1, 2025) Electrician’s Mate Fireman Yuediel Bernal from Bogotá, Columbia, (left) Fire Controlman (Aegis) 2nd Class Jacob Sharp from Huntsville, Alabama, (center) and Seaman Carlos Figueroa from Houston, Texas, (right) assigned to the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Benfold (DDG 65), celebrate their team’s victory with children from the Project Life Subic Chapel, in Olongapo, Philippines, Feb 1. The team of Sailors and children won a sack race competition against three other teams. Benfold Sailors spent the day with the youth group as part of a community relations event with Project Life Subic, which is a ministry group that aims to help in developing the quality of life in the community by offering livelihood programs. Benfold is forward deployed and assigned to Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15, the Navy’s Largest DESRON and U.S. 7th Fleet’s principal surface force.
