Kaeleigh Wedin, normally an administrative support assistant with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District, is currently working in Southern California handling Quality Assurance duties in support of the Los Angeles County Wildfires Debris Removal Mission.
Her current task is with a team of contractors assigned to accurately count and log the number of fire debris trucks that come to the Simi Valley Landfill.
“I can see the impact USACE is having on the L.A. community by the hundreds of trucks that process through the landfill every day carrying, literally, tons of debris! I hope that the community continues to feel the weight lifted from their shoulders as we clear more properties.”
Wedin said she gained a passion for deploying after volunteering for the Hurricane Helene mission. “It was great to support communities in need and also meet the wonderful people from around USACE who volunteer. I enjoy being able to get out in the field and directly see the impact that USACE has!”
