Moe Adams normally works as a senior construction representative for the Natomas Resident Office of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District. Currently, however, Adams is working in Southern California as a support specialist and driver on Sacramento District’s Deployable Tactical Operations System (DTOS) in order to assist the community of Altadena with recovery efforts following the Los Angeles County Wildfires.
Volunteering to work a mission like this consists of working 12-hour days, seven days a week, for at least 30 days, but Adams says she felt compelled to help. “I am a highly trained first responder and this DTOS vehicle is our home (District) truck, so being deployed with it to a mission in our own state is special to me. My role on the DTOS is to provide a safe and clean environment for the Planning and Response Team members to work, and to provide all of the necessary communications (systems and equipment) they will need.”
