1st Lt. Ethan Letsch, assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Brigade Engineer Battalion, 10th Mountain Division, delivers a brief about the combat training exercise demonstration that took place at the newly dedicated Jared C. Monti Soldier and Squad Research Facility, Apr. 7, 2025, in Natick Soldier Systems Center, Massachusetts. Monti deployed with 3rd Squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (LI) to Afghanistan, where he was killed in action on June 21, 2006, while attempting to rescue a wounded Soldier under heavy enemy fire. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor—the second 10th Mountain Division Soldier to receive the Nation’s highest military honor.
