Soldiers from 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division conduct immersive combat simulations at the Jared C. Monti Soldier and Squad Research Facility, Apr. 7, 2025, in Natick Soldier Systems Center, Massachusetts. Monti deployed with 3rd Squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (LI) to Afghanistan, where he was killed in action on June 21, 2006, while attempting to rescue a wounded Soldier under heavy enemy fire. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor—the second 10th Mountain Division Soldier to receive the Nation’s highest military honor. The training within the facility prepares Soldiers for the complexities of modern warfare and focuses on the individual Soldier’s and squad’s operational, cognitive, behavioral, nutritional, physiological and physical performance.
