Soldiers from 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division conduct immersive combat simulations at the Jared C. Monti Soldier and Squad Research Facility, Apr. 7, 2025, in Natick Soldier Systems Center, Massachusetts. Monti deployed with 3rd Squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (LI) to Afghanistan, where he was killed in action on June 21, 2006, while attempting to rescue a wounded Soldier under heavy enemy fire. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor—the second 10th Mountain Division Soldier to receive the Nation’s highest military honor. The facility dedicated to Monti features the Combat Maneuver Laboratory (CML), a highly configurable human performance laboratory with dedicated space for warfighter and squad systems research, development, and integration uniquely focused on team dynamics, individual lethality, and combat readiness. Soldiers and small units will participate in studies in the CML that examine established individual and unit performance optimization metrics. (U.S. Army photo by Pfc. Abigail Stewart)
