U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt, Thomas Wojack, a pararescueman assigned to 320th Special Tactics Squadron, Okinawa, Japan, is participating in his first Balikatan exercise. "We've been working on interoperability so if there is some kind of crisis or natural disaster where the United States is able to help, it won't be our first time working together," Wojack said. Balikatan 2013 is an annual Philippines-U.S. military bilateral training exercise and humanitarian assistance engagement. Balikatan is a Filipino term that means "shoulder-to-shoulder" and characterizes the spirit of the exercise and the Philippines-U.S. alliance. (Department of Defense photo by U.S. Air Force Tech.
