    U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Jesus Maldonado, 2nd Platoon Sgt. for Company D, 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, demonstrates the M249 squad automatic weapon for Vietnam veteran and former Sgt. 1st Class John Blehm, recipient of three Purple Hearts, April 17, 2013. Current members of D Company were hosting their Vietnam-era brothers for a tour of their headquarters and motor pool. Blehm earned his Purple Hearts in a 7-month period of 1969 while serving with "The D 1-5" in the Bong Son area while it was engaged in some of the most brutal fighting of the war.
