U.S. Air Force Sharina Mayhorn, from Staten Island, N.Y., meets Elden Campbell, a former professional basketball player, at Camp As Sayliyah, Qatar, June 2. Campbell was a first-round Lakers pick in a 1990 NBA draft. He finished his career with the Los Angeles team as a leading shot-blocker. Campbell was part of a team of five former NBA and WNBA players traveling to military installations in Southwest Asia to meet deployed service members. The five-star team included: Elden Campbell, Rushia Brown, Tom Gugliotta, Semeka Randall and Shawn Bradley. "It's fascinating to meet them, they seem real laid back" said Mayhorn. "It's great to see athletes come out here to show their support."
