An Iraqi air force aerial gunner trainee goes through preflight checklist items to ensure the Mi-17 multi-role helicopter is ready for a training mission over Camp Taji, May 29. Proper execution of preflight checklists ensures the aircraft is ready to take off. Without going through these procedures critical maintenance errors or equipment malfunctions could be missed resulting in loss of life.
