Lt. Col. Leonard E. Thomas II (left), commander, Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, reviews the battalion troop formation prior to taking command of the unit May 8 at Fort Benning, Ga. The Buffalo Battalion is comprised of five companies representing a variety of military occupational specialties including military intelligence, communications specialists, combat engineers, military police and others. Thomas is a 19-year Army veteran who has deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq and Kuwait.
