Husam Abbas explains the final steps in completing construction of a water treatment facility June 11 to Gen. David Petraeus (right), the commanding general of Multi-National Forces - Iraq, who hails from Cornwall, N.Y., at Joint Security Station al Jadida. Abbas is the principal engineering advisor for the 9 Nissan water project. Although born in Baghdad, Abbas is a Canadian citizen and serves as a bilingual, bicultural advisor with 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light), Multi-National Division - Baghdad.
