Rct. Jesus Zuniga, 18, Platoon 2066, Golf Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, climbs the first level of an obstacle at Parris Island’s Confidence Course on June 24, 2013. The large course is designed to increase recruits’ confidence by completing a series of mentally and physically challenging them to obstacles. Zuniga is from Lakeland, Fla., scheduled to graduate Aug. 23, 2013. Approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island, S.C., annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training. Parris Island is home to entry-level enlisted training 50 percent of males and 100 percent females in the Marine Corps. (Photo by Lance Cpl. David Bessey)
