Recruits of Golf Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, use a rope to swing across a ditch on Parris Island's Confidence Course on June 24, 2013. The course was designed to challenge recruits' strength and endurance by completing obstacles. Golf Company is scheduled to graduate Aug. 23, 2013. Approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island, S.C., annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
