Rct. Mackenzie McKee, 18, Platoon 2066, Golf Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, swings across an obstacle on Parris Island's Confidence Course on June 24, 2013. Recruits used strength and endurance to navigate obstacles on the course. McKee is from Thibodaux, La., and is scheduled to graduate Aug. 23, 2013. Approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island, S.C., annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
