Petty Officer 1st Class Nicholas Heimsoth, gunners mate, with his Bulgarian partner, lead their eight man team to the fantail aboard the guided-missile cruiser USS San Jacinto, after securing the bridge during Visit, Board, Search and Seizure drills. Bulgarian sailors are training with the crew of the San Jacinto in VBSS and damage control techniques and procedures. USS San Jacinto is operating in the Black Sea as part of a larger international team effort to improve maritime safety and security for a region free of trans-national threats built on cooperative security that uses existing political-military constructs.
