Rct. Jordan Tuten carries Rct. Dylan Daniels through the maneuver under fire course during a combat fitness test Aug. 6, 2013, on Parris Island, S.C. Tuten, a 21-year-old native of Rock Hill, S.C., carried Daniels, a 19-year-old native of Acworth, Ga., to simulate carrying a casualty in combat. The CFT, which simulates a wide range of physical challenges one might face in combat, evaluates strength, stamina, agility and coordination. Charlie Company is scheduled to graduate Aug. 23, 2013. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
