Recently the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) donated three vans to the Atlanta VA Health Care System (AVAHCS) to increase access to care and services offered by VA.
“This is part of an ongoing effort to get Veterans, who lack transportation, to and from medical appointments at VA facilities,” said Dr. Anthony Cooper, AVAHCS Chief of Voluntary Services. Cooper thanked DAV and noted the ongoing partnership between the two organizations. “Since 1987, the DAV, with the support of VA Voluntary Service (VAVS), has provided a nationwide Volunteer Transportation Network,” Cooper added.

As part of the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS), Atlanta VA staff provided much needed medical support to Hurricane Maria evacuees at Dobbins Air Reserve Base over the weekend.
September is National Preparedness Month, and the Atlanta VA Medical Center encourages employees and Veterans to make disaster preparedness a priority.
