A UH-1Y Huey aircraft carrying U.S. Marines and Sailors with 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit's maritime raid force (MRF) drops a fast rope aboard the USAV Hobkirk during the visit, board, search and seizure portion of the MEU’s Realistic Urban Training exercise at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va., Aug. 28, 2013. The MRF can board a vessel from the air using aircraft like the UH-1Y Huey, or by surface using rigid-hulled inflatable boats. The MEU is scheduled to deploy in early 2014 to the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group as a sea-based, expeditionary crisis response force capable of conducting amphibious missions across the full range of military operations.
