A National Guard troop operates an excavator on the Little Thompson River between Lyons and Estes Park, Colo. He is attempting to shore up the banks of the river so that the roadway doesn't get affected as much from future rising waters. National guard units from Colorado, Utah, Kansas and Montana participate in reconstruction the Colorado State Route 36 after recent floods devastate the area. Army and Air National Guard units provide civil engineer and Red Horse units to repair the roads and provide a 24-foot wide passable road before Dec. 1, 2013. Currently they are ahead of schedule.
