Members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, key leaders of Barangay Guinobatan, and U.S. service members throw coins and rice to represent good fortune in the future during a dedication ceremony May 14 during Exercise Balikatan in Guinobatan, Albay province, Philippines. The ceremony was held to officially dedicate an elementary school room and a comfort room recently built at Dona Mercedes Elementary School to the Dona Mercedes Barangay in support of Balikatan. This year marks the 30th iteration of the exercise, which is an annual Philippines-U.S. military bilateral training exercise and humanitarian civic assistance engagement.
